Short description of the Rivière des Pluies seismic experiment:

A temporary seismic network of 10 three-component broadband seismometers is deployed around two rivers of La Réunion Island: Rivière des Pluies and Rivière du Mât. The goal of this project is to monitor spatial and temporal variations of the river’s bed-load during tropical cyclones with high-frequency seismic records. Meteorological and hydrological stations are installed at both rivers providing valuable data such as precipitations, water discharge and water level. This experiment is supported by the CNRS-INSU (TelluS- SYSTER), the Région Réunion (through a Ph.D. thesis grant for the period Oct. 2015- Sept. 2018), the Federation OMNCG, 5 seismic instruments from the French mobile seismic broad-band stations (RLBM), the CPER and the University of La Réunion. The Rivière des Pluies has the advantage of being an experimental site particularly well-instrumented within the framework of the ERORUN national observatory (EROsion at the RéUNion).

1) Images of the lithosphere structure around La Réunion Island from receiver function analyses and joint inversions of receiver function and surface-wave dispersion data

2) Mapping of upper mantle flow from body-wave seismic anisotropy

3) Swell-related microseismic noise in the Indian Ocean
